Explore Rwenzori

After breakfast you will start to descend to Mihunga gate where you will enjoy the scenic view of the Vegetation of Rwenzori Mountains. Upon arrival at the gate you will be again welcomed by your Safari guide, and proceed to your hotel for dinner and overnight. Equator Snow Lodge luxury, Fort motel mid range in fort portal or Sandton hotel in Kasese town.

After Morning Breakfast, you will return to Kampala with en-route stopovers for sightseeing and arrive in Kampala at the time for lunch, enjoy the lunch before proceeding to Entebbe international airport. After breakfast, you will be transferred to Omukorukumi at Kasanzi Gate where you will do the legal formalities of the Park, Payment of the park Entrances and later be joined by the Rangers and porters as you start the hike. During this day hike you will explore the  bends west on the ridge overlooking the Kasuka and Isule valleys where you will  proceed to Akebitakuli for a hot lunch , later continue to hike through the montane rain forest overlooking bamboo forested valleys where you may spot some plant species like the Disa stairssi, Scadoxus cyrtanthiflorus, Impetiens olobuse.  Among the bird species to be seen during this hike include the Rwenzori Turaco and other birds as you adventure through the heather zone and reach Rwigho Camp for an overnight rest immediately after crossing River Rwigho. You will set up the camp fire and tents as the cooker will prepare dinner. The Duration for the trek is approximately 6-7 hours hike.

As the Explorer of Nature, you will enjoy morning breakfast and start the trek which has the objective of conquering Margherita peak via Bukurungu trail; you will proceed to pass through the heather trees with lots of moss hanging over these trees. The is the heather zone with a lots of heather trees, scencio trees, alchemila, black berries, and many more plant species. Mostly you will spot many giant lobelias, everlasting flowers and rock shelters. You will enjoy the wild Camping at Kambeho Camp for dinner and overnight. Duration of hike is Approximately 5 – 6 hrs with a stopover for a hot lunch at Mitiyighaghire.

After breakfast, start with a climb along river Lhume; in the early morning hours of the day when still fresh and strong, climb the only steep Mughuli bypass.  The vegetation along the Lake is so beautiful to catch up your eyes. Animals you might see along the trail are the Rwenzori red-duiker, rock and tree hyrax and wild pigs. You will have nature walk around the lakes and water falls to have the unique feel of this Trail. The Duration of the hike is about 6-7 hrs with a stopover for a hot lunch at Mulhalhama resting view point.

When you’re at Bukurungu East Camp, you will view the two mountains of the Portal Peaks and Mount Gessi. You will pass the vegetation of the alchemila, several giant lobelia species and the wonderful unknown leaf looking like a human palm. You will have a stopover at Kinyamiyeye for hot Lunch and later proceed to Bukurungu East Camp and if the weather is clear, your eyes and hands on the camera will have all the main peaks of Edward on Mount Baker, Margherita peak and Alexandra on Mount Stanley, Vittorio Emanuele on Mount Speke, Kihuma on the Portal Peaks and Mount Gessi at glance. Duration of Hike is 5-6 Hours

After Breakfast at your previous camp of Bukurungu East Camp, you will proceed to trek to Lake Bujuku Camp where you will proceed to join the Rwenzori Central Circuit and cross river Bujuku to the lower Bigo bog to reach Bigo camp.  Check out on Climbing Bujuku Tours Begin a steep climb to reach the upper bigo bog; this camp will reward you with the beautiful view of the Magical Margherita peak. Dinner and overnight at Omukendeghe camp.

The ascent to Mount Speke up to Vittorio Emanuel Peak (4.890 meters), without a solid alpine preparation is not to be considered an easy climb. If you are climbing in good weather conditions, it is a trail at a high altitude, with some points a bit exposed with rocks and grass, which often require the use of hands. Particularly, there are a couple of points where a lot of attention is needed. The first one not far from Bujuku Hut (the starting point for the day) is a 20 meters long rocky ramp, slightly stepped, which is blocked on top by the roots of a tree. Practically, it is necessary to climb the roots of the tree without falling, as it could be so dangerous. In case of rain, to be on a safe side and during the descent it is advisable to use the rope. The second critical point is rock crossing of 3rd degree or more which is quite exposed. The advice for those who are not much of experts is to use the rope in the ascent as well as in the descent, using a certain projection of rock just on top of the crossing point. It is dangerous to fall from this point. At the highest point of the trekking is where the glacier begins or what remains of the glacier. However it is always advisable to bring with you the crampons and ropes up to this point since conditions can change. After the glacier, there is a short walk through a small rocky surface leading to the peak. In case of rain or snow, this trail can be very challenging as the difficulties will be increased. In those circumstances the use of the rope in the critical points should be a must for everyone. Even other parts of the trail should be considered with attention as it is very messy and could be slippery. Descend back to Bujuku hut for your overnight

You will wake up and trek to the alpine zone and trek all the way up to the camp on the north-eastern flank of Mount Stanley. Preparing to Summit Margherita peak the next morning, you will relax on the lakes as you prepare for the unique summit to Margherita Peak the next day! Your Summit is our joy of Success. Dinner and overnight at Irene Lakes camp.

You will wake up at 2:00 am and start on the hike to summit to Margherita peak which is the highest point in Uganda, You will enjoy the glacier summit and after the summit (Photo celebration) you will return to the Bigo Camp. Return to Irene Camp for a quick lunch before climbing down to Bigo Camp for an overnight.
