10 Days Rwenzoris Trek & Gorilla

You will be welcomed by 6Summits guide and transfer to Kibale Forest National Park which is the home for the 13 primates in Uganda. You will leave Kampala or Entebbe Early morning to ensure that you arrive at Kibale National park for Chimpanzee Tracking in the afternoon.

Lunch will be en route at Primate Lodge; you will registration for the briefing about the rules and regulations to be followed while in the jungle with the chimpanzees.  This activity will stay for 2-5 hours depending on the movement of these primates. Dinner and overnight at Kibale River Camp (Budget) or Chimpundu Lodge (Luxury) or Isunga Lodge (Mid range).

After Early morning breakfast at the lodge in Kibale, You will start to drive to Rwenzori Mountains National Park for the start of the hike into the Mountains of the Moon, you will arrive at 8:00am and head to the office in Nyakalengija where you will find the team of experts (Rwenzori Porters, Guides and Rangers) and you will be briefed and then pick your hiking equipment. You will start the trek passing through the local settlements, tropical forests, montane forests, bamboo forest and part of the alpine.  (Vegetation Cover) and you will stop at Nyabitaba hut for lunch and then proceed through the Kurt Schaffer Bridge which is at the conference of Mubuku and Bujuku Rivers.

You will arrive at john matte in the evening hours where you will find your chef who has prepared the meals for dinner and overnight.  Meals will be prepared depending on the Clients Diet and meal requirements as specified at the time of the booking.

After breakfast at john matte, you will pass through the rocky and slippery area as you cross different rivers and stream. Along this route, you will spot where you will be able to spot the Margherita and Alexandra peaks at a distance. You will then proceed with the hike through the lower bigo bog where boards were put to make movement easier, you will spot various plants like giant lobelia, groundsels, and everlasting flowers among others. You will continue to hike through the rocky parts of mount Stanley to Elena hut where you will have dinner and spend the night.

On this day you will start the hike at around 2am, get ready with your hiking gear and headlamps, you will hike through the rocky area, and you will use the ropes as you hike on some spots to the Stanley glacier. You will need your crampons. After the Stanley glacier, you will remove the crampons and continue with the hike through the rocks to the Margherita glacier. The hike through the Margherita glacier will lead you to Margherita peak which is the highest point of the Rwenzori. You will then descend back to Elena hut where you will rest and have lunch. And then continue to descend to Bujuku hut where you will have dinner and spend the night.

After breakfast at Bujuku hut, you will move through the upper bigo bog, continue descending through the lower bigo bog to john mate where you will rest and have lunch. You will then proceed to Nyabitaba hut where you will have dinner and spend the night.

After breakfast at Nyabitaba, you will descend back to Nyakalengija and proceed to Equator snow lodge for the relaxed Sleep, as you feel the forests of Rwenzori Mountains.

After Morning breakfast at Equator Snow Lodge, you will set off for the drive to Connect to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park the home half of the world’s mountain Gorillas, where you will drive through the Ishasha sector and arrive at the lodge in the afternoon. Relax as you watch the mist of Bwindi Forest, Dinner and overnight will be determined by the sector of the gorilla trekking permit.

Ruhija it will be Ihamba Residence lodge, Gorilla Mist lodge and Rushaga sector it will be Ichumbi lodge

Enjoy the Early morning breakfast, with packed lunch head to assemble to the gorilla trekking briefing point where you will be informed of the rules and regulations guiding the gorilla trekking safari activity in the wilderness of Gorilla destinations in Uganda. you will take a walk into the jungle to search for the gorillas, the duration might be 3-5 hours, once you get in sight with the gorillas, you will be allowed one hour for the photos, films and watching the apes and later return back to the starting point and transfer to Kisoro where you will spend your overnight at Ikoro Lodge.

Enjoy the morning breakfast, and drive to Mgahinga national park the home for the golden monkey in Uganda found within the Virunga Massif, head to assemble to the golden monkey briefing point to be oriented about the rules and regulations concerning the conservation of the golden monkeys in the wilderness and the rules to follow while in the jungle.  If its golden monkey tracking permit you will spend one hour with the monkey and if its golden monkey habituation, you will spend with them 4 hours, we advise that you verify what you wish to go for at the time of the booking.

Later return and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi the deepest lake in the region (Uganda), dinner and overnight at Bird Nest Lodge, Lake Bunyonyi Resort Camp.

Have morning breakfast as you feel what Lake Bunyonyi holds and later take the boat cruise around Lake Bunyonyi and mid morning start on the journey to transfer you to Kigali / Entebbe for your flight back home.
